school hymns
What is British culture? It is a set of values, habits, and idiosyncratic traditions that have developed over time, shaping our heritage and giving us a shared sense of identity. It is not something invented overnight or written down in a single place, but something lived, passed on, and recognised in the way people speak, behave, and understand the world around them.

If we do not continue these customs they will be replaced. Traditions require attention and respect.
School hymns and collective worship in schools are part of that tradition. Many schools are replacing this with other types of worship, whether it's the climate, transgenderism or even "kindness".
I want to bring this back, I want to reignite the joy of singing together.
Jerusalem
source: William Blake
And did those feet in ancient time,
Walk upon Englands mountains green:
And was the holy Lamb of God,
On Englands pleasant pastures seen!
And did the Countenance Divine,
Shine forth upon our clouded hills?
And was Jerusalem builded here,
Among these dark Satanic Mills?
Bring me my Bow of burning gold:
Bring me my Arrows of desire:
Bring me my Spear: O clouds unfold:
Bring me my Chariot of fire!
I will not cease from Mental Fight,
Nor shall my Sword sleep in my hand:
Till we have built Jerusalem,
In Englands green & pleasant Land.
amazing grace
1
Amazing grace! how sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch; like me!
I once was lost, but now am found,
Was blind, but now I see.
2
’Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
And grace my fears relieved;
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed!
3
The Lord hath promised good to me,
His word my hope secures;
He will my shield and portion be
As long as life endures.
4
When we’ve been there ten thousand years,
Bright shining as the sun,
We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise
Than when we first begun.
Oil in my lamp

Give me oil in my lamp, keep me burning
Give me oil in my lamp, I pray
Give me oil in my lamp, keep me burning
Keep me burning till the break of day

Sing hosanna, sing hosanna
Sing hosanna to the King of Kings
Sing hosanna, sing hosanna
Sing hosanna to the King

Give me joy in my heart, keep me praising
Give me joy in my heart, I pray
Give me joy in my heart, keep me praising
Keep me praising till the break of day

Give me peace in my heart, keep me loving
Give me peace in my heart, I pray
Give me peace in my heart, keep me loving
Keep me loving till the break of day
morning has broken
1 Morning has broken
like the first morning,
blackbird has spoken
like the first bird.
Praise for the singing!
Praise for the morning!
Praise for them, springing
fresh from the Word!
2 Sweet the rain’s new fall
sunlit from heaven,
like the first dewfall
on the first grass.
Praise for the sweetness
of the wet garden,
sprung in completeness
where God’s feet pass.
3 Mine is the sunlight!
Mine is the morning
born of the one light
Eden saw play!
Praise with elation,
praise every morning,
God’s recreation
of the new day!
lord of the dance
I danced in the morning when the world was begun,
And I danced in the moon and the stars and the sun,
And I came down from heaven and I danced on the earth,
At Bethlehem I had my birth.
Refrain
Dance, then, wherever you may be;
I am the Lord of the Dance, said he.
And I’ll lead you all wherever you may be,
And I’ll lead you all in the dance, said he.
I danced for the scribe and the Pharisee,
But they would not dance and they would not follow me;
I danced for the fishermen, for James and John;
They came to me and the dance went on.
Refrain
I danced on the Sabbath when I cured the lame,
The holy people said it was a shame;
They whipped and they stripped and they hung me high;
And they left me there on a cross to die.
Refrain
I danced on a Friday and the sky turned black;
It’s hard to dance with the devil on your back;
They buried my body and they thought I’d gone,
But I am the dance and I still go on.
Refrain
They cut me down and I leapt up high,
I am the life that’ll never, never die;
I’ll live in you if you’ll live in me;
I am the Lord of the Dance, said he.
Refrain
all things bright
Refrain:
All things bright and beautiful,
all creatures great and small,
all things wise and wonderful,
the Lord God made them all.
1 Each little flow'r that opens,
each little bird that sings,
He made their glowing colors,
He made their tiny wings. [Refrain]
2 The purple-headed mountain,
the river running by,
the sunset and the morning
that brightens up the sky. [Refrain]
3 The cold wind in the winter,
the pleasant summer sun,
the ripe fruits in the garden:
He made them every one. [Refrain]
4 He gave us eyes to see them,
and lips that we might tell
how great is God Almighty,
who has made all things well. [Refrain]
colours of day
55.
Colours of day dawn into the mind
The day has begun, the night is behind
Go down in the city into the street
And lets give the message to the people we meet
So light up the fire and let the flame burn
Open the door, let Jesus return
Take seeds of His Spirit, let the fruit grow
Tell the people of Jesus, let His love show
Go through the park, on into the town
The sun still shines on, it never goеs down
The light of the world is risen again
Thе people of darkness are needing a friend
So light up the fire and let the flame burn
Open the door, let Jesus return
Take seeds of His Spirit, let the fruit grow
Tell the people of Jesus, let His love show
So light up the fire and let the flame burn
Open the door, let Jesus return
Take seeds of His Spirit, let the fruit grow
Tell the people of Jesus, let His love show
So won't you
Light up the fire and let the flame burn
Open the door, let Jesus return
Take seeds of His Spirit, let the fruit grow
Tell the people of Jesus, and let His love show
And let his love show
And let his love show
And let his love show

autumn days
Autumn days when the grass is jewelled
And the silk inside a chestnut shell.
Jetplanes meeting in the air to be refuelled.
All these thing I love so well
So I mustn't forget
No, I mustn't forget.
To say a great big
Thank You
I mustn't forget
Clouds that look like familiar faces
And the winter's moon with frosted rings.
Smell of bacon as I fasten up my laces
And the song the milkman sings
CHORUS
Whipped-up spray that is rainbow-scattered
And a swallow curving in the sky
Shoes so comfy though they're worn out and they're battered
And the taste of
apple pie.
CHORUS
Scent of gardens when the rain's been falling
And a minnow darting down a stream
Picked-up engine that's been stuttering and stalling
And a win for my home team.
So I mustn't forget
No, I mustn't forget.
To say a great big
Thank You
I mustn't forget

let women speak
[Verse]
WE stand on the edge of a whisper
Our voices trapped deep and so low
But the words now rise like the oceans
And the sadness that only we know
Woman, Adult human female
not hard to define
But they twist and turn
They blur the line
Women's dignity discarded
Our rage begins to build
A tidal wave they can’t conceal
[Chorus]
Let women speak
Let the truth ring clear
We’ve been shouting but they refuse to hear
Breaking the silence
Breaking the spell
We are the women
And we're raising hell
[Verse 2]
They've stolen our language,
They've taken our rights,
But we'll never give up,
Or stop this fight,
This memory of suffering will leave a bruise,
But women just remember, we never lose
[Prechorus]
No
No
No more bending low
Our “no” is so loud
Our courage grows
[Chorus]
Let women speak
Let the truth ring clear
We’ve been shouting but they refuse to hear
Breaking the silence
Breaking the spell
We are the women
We're raising hell
[VERSE]
Her voice shakes, her hands tremble, and she's so scared
The years of silence have put her there
But the words fill the ether hour by hour
And as her voice rises she finds her power
[Bridge]
At the top of her lungs
She screams
He’s a man
This is our space
It’s where we stand
No more shadows
No more disguise
Let the fire burn
No compromise
Let women speak
Let the truth ring clear
We’ve been shouting but they refuse to hear
Breaking the silence
Breaking the spell
We are the women
We're raising hell
[Prechorus]
Let Women speak, Let the truth ring clear,
We were shouting for all these years,
And you chose not to hear
Let Women speak, Let the truth ring clear,
We were shouting for all these years,
And you chose not to hear.....
Let Women Speak
Let women speak
Let the truth ring clear
We’ve been shouting but they refuse to hear
Breaking the silence
Breaking the spell
We are the women
We're raising hell
land of hope and glory
Land of Hope and Glory
Mother of the Free
How shall we extol thee
Who are born of thee?
Wider still, and wider
Shall thy bounds be set;
God, who made thee mighty
Make thee mightier yet!
Dear Land of Hope, thy hope is crowned
God make thee mightier yet!
On Sov'ran brows, beloved, renowned
Once more thy crown is set
Thine equal laws, by Freedom gained
Have ruled thee well and long;
By Freedom gained, by Truth maintained
Thine Empire shall be strong
Thy fame is ancient as the days
As Ocean large and wide:
A pride that dares, and heeds not praise
A stern and silent pride
Not that false joy that dreams content
With what our sires have won;
The blood a hero sire hath spent
Still nerves a hero son
the caliphate
[Verse]
They say convert pay up or die
And they look you in the eye
Knowing you believed the lie,
That inclusion was everybody's friend
When the truth now we all know
That was the beginning of the end
You didn't fight back, you failed to resist
And now the country is under their fist ah ah ah ah
[Prechorus]
No sun no fun no sky
All the music now must die
[Chorus]
No more thinking thoughts
sharia councils schools and courts
Welcome to Britain under the brand new Caliphate
You're no longer free, cover your face, your hair your feet
You're now enslaved in a British Caliphate
Don't you love the British Caliphate
[Verse 2]
Have one wife, three or four,
When they're knocking on your door
Asking if you're reciting the Quran,
Telling you you're gay, and stoning you today.
No matter if you're a woman or a man
You didn't say no, you failed so it seems,
And now you are under the Islamic Regime ah ah ah ah ah
[Prechorus]
No laugh no dance no art
kill animals through their heart
[Chorus]
No more thinking thoughts
sharia councils schools and courts
Welcome to Britain under the brand new Caliphate
You're no longer free, cover your face, your hair your feet
You're now enslaved in a British Caliphate
Don't you love the British Caliphate
[Verse]
They steal your daughter for their wife
And imprison her for life
Saying she's old enough at nine
They're will exterminate your dog,
a scorpion to your frog,
Don't complain just keep saying you are fine,.
It's far too late, you're way out of time,
About ten years ago that was the line ah ah ah ah ah
[Prechorus]
No christian or infidel
The whole place feels like hell
[Chorus]
No more thinking thoughts
sharia councils schools and courts
Welcome to Britain under the brand new Caliphate
You're no longer free, cover your face, your hair your feet
You're now enslaved in a British Caliphate
Don't you love the British Caliphate
[bridge]
From the cities to the town,
All the people wear a frown,
As they hear the horrendous call to prayer,
Getting elected into power
Every minute every hour
By next week a muslim will be your Mayor
[chorus]
No more thinking thoughts
sharia councils schools and courts
Welcome to Britain under the brand new Caliphate
You're no longer free, cover your face, your hair your feet
You're now enslaved in a British Caliphate
Don't you love the British Caliphate
paper doll
[Verse 1]
My hands shaken and frail
A wedding dress, a prison cell
They tied the knot a silken thread
My childhood dreams already dead
I leave my teddy at the door
He said I can't see him anymore
[Chorus]
The day the orders came, all girls are now fair game,
Hoping I would disappear, I am only ten this year
No one hears no one sees
Just a girl on my knees
Freedom has left me all alone,
I am a wife to a king without a throne
[Verse 2]
He forced my hand on my wedding day
He made me cry, he made me say
That I was there of my free will,
That day all the world stood still
I am in chains for my life
I'm a child, not a wife
[Chorus]
The day the orders came, all girls are now fair game,
Hoping I would disappear, I am only ten this year
No one hears no one sees
Just a girl on my knees
Freedom has left me all alone,
I am a wife to a king without a throne
[Bridge]
The sun still shines the birds still sing
But for me no joy they bring
A gilded cage a heavy door
My liberation is no more
The day the orders came, all girls are now fair game,
Hoping I would disappear, I am only ten this year
No one hears no one sees
Just a girl on my knees
Freedom has left me all alone,
I am a wife to a king without a throne
[Exit Chorus]
Paper doll on a lonely shelf
Whispering secrets to myself
No one hears no one sees
I'm just a girl on my knees
Come and save me please
Won't someone save me please
